Indeed, Progident ERP software and solutions can operate either from local servers physically installed at your offices or through a fully configured cloud infrastructure hosted on Microsoft®’s Azure® platform.
 
Both approaches have their advantages and disadvantages. For example: 

• A cloud-based approach frees your organization from certain support and periodic maintenance costs associated with your central servers. Additionally, this approach offers the flexibility to quickly scale up your storage capacity and available processing power. Microsoft Azure®’s fully secure hosting enables a high degree of user mobility. However, of course, this flexibility comes at a cost.
  
• An approach using physical central servers at your offices typically allows you to reduce your recurring infrastructure costs by combining and amortizing, for example, the acquisition costs of central servers and their maintenance fees over a five-year period. However, in the event of a breakdown, the turnaround time may be longer—for instance, when ordering parts.
  

You should also consider certain key factors in your decision-making process:

• Regardless of the option, your employees and software users need a workstation or basic device to operate. This cost remains a factor for both options.
  
• Regardless of the option, security must be a top priority, and the same requirements and rules apply to either option. For example, compliance with Bill 25 for the protection of personal information remains the same in both cases.
  
• Before making the final decision to move to cloud computing and a hosted infrastructure, be sure to check whether software other than Progident is commonly used by your team. Some complementary specialized software may not operate in “cloud” mode, or it may require technical resources that are too costly relative to their utility.

• Am I a company with little deployment and no need for mobile management in the field? The option of servers in the office may be the least expensive.
• Is my strategic business plan to fully virtualize my management within a fixed time frame? The cloud computing option is probably worth considering.
